Things We Can Learn from a Dog

This is a photo of my beautiful German Shepperd, Bullet.  I think there's a lot we can learn from our pets.  The following list is from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Loving Our Dogs:

1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

2. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

3. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

4. When it's in your best interest, always practice obedience.

5. Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

6. Take naps and always stretch before rising.

7. Run, romp and play daily.

8. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

9. Be loyal.

10. Never pretend to be something you're not.

11. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

12. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

13. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

14. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

15. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

16. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

17. When you are happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

18. No matter how often you are criticized, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout.
Run right back and make friends.

Now, I would love to hear about YOUR pets and how they have enriched your life!

These are all valid and true!

You have a beautiful dog Garcia.

I love my pup. I was just telling my best friend today that I think I cuddled him too much as a pup. :o) He is so loving and loyal. Guinness has a way of making a terrible day better!

My husband actually gets jealous sometimes. He told me one night, "I have to keep reminding myself he's just a dog." I know I shouldn't, but I talk to my dog. When Peter caught me doing this one day he rolled his eyes. Here is the exchange that took place:

Me: What?! You never talked to your pets? What about Mandy? (this was his pet, a cat, while growing up)

Peter: Nope. She gave without taking. {Breaks into Barry Manilow song}

Bullet is beautiful - and sweet too!!!
Funny how our four legged family members feel so secure in our love - even if we are mad at them. Funny how they will stubbornly follow after us. No matter what, they just want to be with us. Talk about learning from our pets, If only I could be so faithful to my Lord!!!
